ENGLISH AT NGUYEN SIEU
Cambridge English Examination Center
As an Authorised Test Delivery Centre (VN236), Nguyen Sieu School is certified by Cambridge to deliver: (i) CAIE examinations to Nguyen Sieu students, and (ii) Cambridge Academic English (CAE) examinations for our students as well as external candidates.
To promote the learning and use of English in and around Hanoi, Nguyen Sieu School also conducts CAE examinations for students from our network of “Preparation Centres” in Hanoi and the surrounding provinces.
In AY 2015-16, Nguyen Sieu High School (VN236) received the Best New Centre of the Year from Cambridge English Language Assessment (CELA).
ESL and IELTS Preparation
Many of our students go on to pursue higher education internationally. Nguyen Sieu’s English-language support for CAIE subjects, Cambridge Academic English (CAE) assessments and IELTS, enable students to familiarise and prepare themselves for a sophisticated academic environment.
In the CAIE pathway, students take English as a Second Language (ESL) IGCSEs. The ESL subject is designed for learners who already have a working knowledge of the language and who want to consolidate their understanding in order to progress in their academic or professional career. At the Primary and Lower Secondary levels, students also study and sit for Cambridge English as a Second Language (ESL) Starters, Movers, Flyers, KET-A2, PET-B1, and FCE-B2 qualifications, which assess and signify reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities at progressive levels of competency.
As most universities, governments and employers use the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as a proficiency test for higher education, IELTS coaching is also a key priority for Nguyen Sieu School. CAIE IGCSE, AS- and A-Level students and MOET Grade 11-12 students are enrolled in weekly IELTS preparation classes.
Nguyen Sieu School partners with IDP International Education Specialists to conduct the IELTS examinations for students. The IELTS examinations are held once or twice a year, depending on the academic calendar and registration of candidates.
