From August 8 to August 24, students from Grades 2 to 5 at Nguyen Sieu Primary School are participating in the "Reading Challenge 2026," launched by the school library. Each student will read 10 books from a recommended list and complete creative challenges based on what they have read.

Organized at the beginning of the new school year, the "Reading Challenge 2026" aims to spark students' passion for reading while encouraging them to form a reading habit, reflect deeply, and express their personal perspectives on the material they absorb.

Program Overview:

  • Program Name: "Reading Challenge 2026"

  • Duration: From August 8 to August 24, 2026

  • Participants: Students in Grades 2, 3, 4, and 5

  • How to Participate:

    1. Read 10 books from the library's recommended list.

    2. Choose suitable challenges.

    3. Complete the required number of challenges specified for each grade level.

    4. Express reading insights through creative products, written essays, or formats guided by the library.

In this program, students select and read 10 books from the recommended list. After finishing their reading, they choose challenges that suit their interests and complete the required quantity for their grade level. Five distinct challenges offer various approaches for students to showcase what they have learned:

  • Challenge 1 – My Favorite Book: Share a book that left a strong impression and explain why you love it.

  • Challenge 2 – The Character Through My Eyes: Express personal feelings, thoughts, or unique perspectives about a character.

  • Challenge 3 – If I Were the Author: Exercise imagination and creativity by coming up with an alternative ending or a new direction for the story.

  • Challenge 4 – My Takeaway Message: Share a lesson, message, or meaningful insight gained from the book.

  • Challenge 5 – Reading Journal: Document emotions, thoughts, and memorable highlights throughout the reading journey.

The highlight of the program lies in giving students the opportunity to read actively. Rather than simply answering comprehension questions, students can choose their favorite characters, step into the shoes of the author, discover underlying messages, or document their reading journey through a personal lens. This approach transforms book pages into a launchpad for critical thinking and creativity. A story can spark a fresh idea, a character can prompt reflection on a familiar issue, and a message from a book can connect to real-life experiences.

Reading is not just about turning pages; it is a journey of sparking curiosity, broadening imagination, and helping young minds view the world through their own unique perspective. Through the "Reading Challenge 2026," Nguyen Sieu Primary School Library hopes to foster a space where students engage with books proactively and enthusiastically, gradually turning reading into a habit tied to critical thinking, real-world experiences, and creativity.

10 books are just the beginning. 5 challenges offer different ways for students to share what they have read. Most importantly, every page can open up a brand-new way of looking at the world!
