CURIOSITY DAY 2026: FIRST STEP TO EXCELLENCE FOR GRADE 1
On 22 August, Curiosity Day 2026 – “The Beginning of an Exceptional Journey” took place at Nguyen Sieu Primary School, warmly welcoming 260 Year 1 pupils as they officially embarked on a five-year journey of learning, discovery and growth at their new school.
For the children, this marked the very first day of a new chapter. For Parents, it was also a memorable milestone – a moment to walk hand in hand with their children as they entered primary school and to witness their very first steps on the journey towards growing up.
Beginning a Journey with Curiosity
Curiosity Day is built around one of the most natural qualities of childhood: the desire to know, to ask questions and to explore.
From the very first welcome extended to our Year 1 pupils, the school encourages children to remain curious about the unknown, to ask questions with confidence, to embrace new experiences and to be unafraid of trying. After all, every journey of discovery begins with a question, a spark of curiosity and a desire to learn more.
This is why Curiosity marks the starting point of the learning journey at Nguyen Sieu Primary School. Over the next five years, pupils will develop and put into practice the school’s five core values: Curiosity – Discipline – Respect – Compassion – Excellence, allowing these values to gradually become part of the way they learn, behave and grow each day.
A Meaningful “Passing on Love” Moment
One of the most meaningful moments of Curiosity Day 2026 was the “Passing on Love” ceremony. Parents took their children by the hand as they stepped onto the stage together, where each pupil received a Curiosity Egg from the school. From that moment on, the children gained another circle of support from their teachers, friends and the wider school community.
Speaking to parents on this special occasion, Dr Nguyen Vinh Hanh, Chairman of the School Council at Nguyen Sieu Primary School, shared:
“Today, parents are holding their children’s hands as they enter Nguyen Sieu. But day by day, we will learn together to loosen that grip just a little, so that the children can learn to take their own steps, make their own choices, take responsibility and gradually grow into themselves.”
“Loosening that grip just a little” does not mean leaving children to walk alone. Rather, it means giving them the space and confidence to explore, to try, to make choices and to grow through their own experiences.
From the family’s perspective, Ms Do Hong Duong, representing Year 1 parents, also highlighted the importance of partnership:
“Working together does not mean that we must always think alike. It means choosing conversation over judgement when something is unclear; and when a problem arises, instead of rushing to decide who is right or wrong, we ask together: ‘What is best for the child?’”
The messages from both the school and parents come together around one shared belief: adults are not there to walk the journey on behalf of children, but to create a trusting and supportive environment in which they can take their own steps, make their own choices and gradually grow with confidence.
A Promise for the Journey Ahead
Curiosity Day is more than a warm welcome from the school. It also marks the beginning of the first commitments that each Year 1 pupil makes to themselves: to be well-behaved, caring, respectful, responsible and always willing to do their best.
Alongside this, each child receives a Curiosity Egg as a special gift and a gentle reminder to keep asking questions, stay eager to explore and approach the journey ahead with confidence and an open mind.
260 children, 260 personalities, 260 individual journeys. Yet today, they all share the same starting point: Nguyen Sieu Primary School.
From this very first day, the children will be supported by both their families and the school as they discover the world around them, learn more about themselves and gradually grow into the best version of who they can be.
Welcome to Nguyen Sieu Primary School!
